The recipient of the national 2006 Distinguished Program in Teacher Education award and the national 2007 Christa McAuliffe Award for Excellence in Teacher Education, the College of Education and Allied Professions prepares educators, counselors, psychologists, recreation personnel and other human service specialists at both entry and advanced levels.
Accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the college delivers 35 undergraduate and graduate majors through five academic departments: Elementary and Middle Grades Education; Educational Leadership and Foundations; Health, Physical Education and Recreation; Human Services; and Psychology.
For students or current professionals who want to become teachers, options are available through our Teacher Education Program, which also points to careers in education outside the classroom.
In addition, the college offers the following programs: the Community College Teaching program for community college teachers; the Parks and Recreation Management program for future recreation and outdoor education leaders; a fully online graduate degree program in Human Resources, designed to prepare students for a variety of HR positions; and undergraduate and graduate programs in psychology.
The college's students are equipped with knowledge not just for a job, but for a careersee the Conceptual Framework. A number of special centers and programs and partnerships allow them to gain practical experience before graduation and theyre introduced to the newest tools of learning by highly qualified faculty who are at the national forefront of applying instructional technology.
