Program Description: The program prepares qualified candidates for professional careers in sport management.
The program for the Master of Science in Sport Management requires successful completion of 27 hours of coursework (18 core sport management hours and 9 elective hours) and 9 hours of a Practicum or Thesis. Upon successful completion of all coursework, graduate candidates must pass a comprehensive written exam covering all core courses. Students will choose one of the following options:
- Practicum Option (9 hours): this is a non-thesis degree designed for students who do not intend to continue graduate studies beyond the masters level. It requires a minimum of 27 hours of approved coursework and the successful completion of a Practicum.
- Thesis Option (9 hours): this is designed for students who either intend on continuing graduate studies beyond the master's level or intend on performing research activities. It requires a minimum of 27 hours of approved coursework and the successful completion of an oral defense of a thesis.
Required Standardized Test: GRE General Exam
Minimum Admissions Requirements: An average grade of B or higher as defined by the major department in upper-level undergraduate coures in the major, a minimum percentile score of 25 on all three sections of the General Test of the GRE
Additional Admissions Criteria: A letter of intent and three letters of recommendation from former professors or supervisors who can testify to the candidate's aptitude for graduate study, upon completion of the admissions procedure potential students will be contacted for an interview
