Program Description: The Communication Sciences and Disorders program gives students the academic and clinical experience for careers in a variety of settings, including public schools, hospitals, clinics, preschools, and private practice.
Students entering the program with a bachelor's degree in communication disorders must complete a minimum of 60 hours of academic course work and 400 clinical practicum hours. Typically, the program can be completed in two years. Students entering the program with an undergraduate degree in a field other than communication sciences and disorders will be required to take an additional 18 hours of prerequisite coursework.
Upon completion of the Master of Science degree, students will be eligible for licensure by the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction and the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
The program is fully accredited in speech-language pathology by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Required Standardized Test: GRE General Exam
Minimum Admissions Requirements: Same as the Graduate School
Additional Admissions Criteria: Applicant must submit three letters of recommendation.
